New type of mathematics catching on, D.U.H. says
The Department of Understanding Humans, or D.U.H. announced today that they have discovered a highly advanced but simple-sounding type of mathematics they have labeled “DUHmath”
The spokesperson said, “this new type of math has a variety of manifestations. For instance, in DUHmath’s applications real numbers and letter type variables are actually used, but the equations are not solvable. They don’t make sense. On the other hand, there are some equations that look really good, but actually don’t mean anything. In DUHmath, every one is number one, some is equal to most, and deficits don’t matter.
DUHmath is now being heralded as one of the great discoveries of all time.
“It can be used to prove all of our previously unsolved theories,” he said. “No matter what the problem or need is, DUHmath can prove anything, said the spokesperson.” “It’s fantastic,” said an investment banker. “All we have to do is write out a huge DUHmath equation, and we always win at the stock market. When we get asked how we did it, we just show them the long DUHmath equation, and they just nod, since they haven’t got a clue what it means. Just having the long DUHmath equations makes us very confident.”
“We discovered DUHmath is very popular now,” said the D.U.H. spokesperson. There are special courses now in advanced mathematics universities where DUHmath is being taught. It’s a requirement now for accounting and marketing. Even some scientists are using it, especially the ones working for large corporations and governments.” One senator was practically giddy. He said, ” this means we will now always have plenty of money to spend on all the projects in my state, all because of DUHmath. When we combing DUHmath with DUHspeak, we usually win the elections, too.”
Practitioners of DUHmath sometimes use it to take very small equations and make them very large and incomprehensible and impressive. At other times, DUHmath is used to take very complicated calculations and make them into just few numbers. Both of these techniques are often used by politicians and attorneys.
As usual, there has been plenty of criticism of this new DUHmath by regular mathematicians, scientists, and normal citizens. One person contacted for response said, ” sounds like a lot of bullcrap to me, but hell, I never did like math, so who am I to judge. They must know what they’re talking about, because I sure don’t. I’m not sure I want to, either.”
